Stop circulating misleading claims about Covid vaccine, appeals Deputy speaker

Imphal, June 26 2021: The Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, K Robindro has appealed to all individuals to stop circulating misleading claims about side effects of Covid vaccine amidst the ongoing mass vaccination programme across the State.

It is unfortunate that misleading claims such as "covid vaccinees will die within 1 years or 2 years" are being circulated verbally and via social media platform, said the MLA of Mayang Imphal AC who is also supervising mobile vaccination campaign to rake up the pace of vaccination against Covid in his Assembly segment.

The day saw a vaccination programme conducted at Panchayat Ghar near Uchiwa Leirak Achouba after a similar camp was conducted at Shantipur within Mayang Imphal AC .

Speaking on the sideline of the camp, the MLA noted that the impact of Covid can be reduced to a great extent if safety guidelines issued by WHO and Health Ministry and appeal all to be very sensible and safe from the virus.

Moreover all should do away with rumours and misleading claims about the Covid Vaccine that people who got vaccinated will die within two years or one year, he said while appealing all to restrain spreading rumours and instilling fears in the mind of the people.

The vaccines, being inoculated in India, are effective and have saved many from the virus or have reduced its effect significantly on vaccines, he said while adding that declining positivity rate and death rate has very much to do with the vaccination programme.

Because of advance vaccination of frontline warriors and health workers, the State is able to manage the Covid situation in the State, he said while calling on all to get vaccinated without hesitation.

The vaccination camps were held at different venues but considering the inconveniences in movements of the people to the camp, a mobile vaccination campaign was also launched yesterday he said while expressing belief that it will help increase the rate of vaccination in the Assembly segment.
