Imphal, May 24:
Even as the MPSC has started issuing admit cards to candidates who have applied for the posts of 172 college lecturers, the DESAM has alleged that the recruitment process is full of flaws and lapses and is against the UGC rules.
A press release issued by DESAM accused the MPSC authority of gross manipulation of the established recruitment rules in connivance with some influential Government officials with an ulterior motive to get their dear and near ones selected.
Against the Cabinet decision of October 18, 2006 to recruit 209 college lecturers, the MPSC issued an advertisement for recruitment of just 172 lecturers.
The MPSC authority also added certain posts in the advertisement which were not sanctioned by the Government in the interest of some candidates.
The non-sanctioned posts include Electronics, Environmental Science, Bio-Chemistry, Defence Studies, Computer Science etc.
Another point is the question of part-time lecturers.
The State Government is still unable to come up with a concrete policy to solve the long standing issue of part-time lecturers, DESAM said.
They have been put in the same boat with the fresh candidates which is ridiculous.
Inserting a clause "age relaxation", the MPSC advertisement did mention that part-time lecturers may appear in the recruitment test.
But the very term "age relaxation" is against UGC norms.
Another surprising factor of MPSC's recruitment process was the permission to allow form submission by many ineligible candidates who have not cleared MPhil or PhD or NET then in 2006 .
They were made to submit their eligibility certificates only this month after two years.
And these candidates would be allowed to appear in the recruitment test after screening on May 30/31.All these irregularities only testify that some officials are openly cheating the people.
Questioning the reason behind conducting recruitment test only this year while advertisement for the same published two years back, DESAM said that this was a ploy to wait for some favoured candidates get their eligibility certificates.
The student body further questioned the motive behind the MPSC corrigendum/re-advertisement published on April 9 this year which lay out that no fresh candidates can apply and that only those who have submitted their forms earlier will be allowed to appear in the recruitment test.
Observing that many have cleared NET, JRF, PhD etc in the meantime, DESAM asked as to why they are being denied the opportunity to appear the recruitment test.
Citing all these irregularities and manipulations, the student body urged upon the Government to conduct the recruitment test only after all the flaws and lapses are rectified.
