'Drowning' of youth: Family demands probe

Imphal, June 14 2025: An 18-year-old's death at Adimjati Boys Hostel has raised suspicions, and the family is now calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today, Lannu Sinnu Aimol (54) of Langol Village in Tengnoupal, said that the claim that her son T Molianboy drowned is suspicious.

She said that her son who was currently in his second semester of BBA at DM University was staying at Adimjati Boys Hostel.

She recounted that on June 12 at around 8 pm, a person from her locality informed her that her son was sick, but when they reached Imphal, they found him dead at City Hospital.

Saying that her son was seen with three friends at the hostel's pond on June 12 according to reports they received, she questioned how he alone died despite being accompanied by others.

The pond wasn't that vast, she said, reiterating that the circumstances surrounding her son's death are suspicious.

She urged the authorities to share the post-mortem report with them as soon as possible, mentioning that a complaint has already been filed with the Imphal police station.

Additionally, she urged the authorities to conduct a thorough probe into the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
