It's a combined effort of external and internal forces : Bimol
Candidate recalls flattened houses at CCpur

Imphal, April 14 2024: It is not only the external forces or foreign intruders who have been working to break apart Manipur but it is a collaborative effort involving many selfish people who have been living in the State since the past.

This was stated by INC's candidate in Inner Manipur PC Dr Bimol Akoijam.

The Congress candidate also questioned what the State Government was doing when Meitei Khumujamba Leikai of Churachandpur was flattened using bulldozers after the whole village was burnt down with a sinister intention to erase every sign of Meitei settlement.

He said that it would be difficult to protect the interest of Manipur until and unless these traitors are identified.

It's a combined effort of external and internal forces : Bimol

Interacting with a group of people at the residence of Lamlai AC's former candidate Achoibam Deben today, Dr Bimol said that the authorities will take up action one day against the youth who took up arms to protect Manipur on the ground that their activities are unlawful.

But it was the failure of the Government and its security forces to protect citizens and their properties which forced the youth to take up arms, he said.

"For this very reason, I will shout both inside the Parliament and outside that no action should be taken up against the youngsters who took up arms to protect Manipur", he said.

On the other hand, some people have been using many of these youths as tools by claiming that only the incumbent Government can protect them.

The youngsters cannot be victimised in such a manner, Dr Bimol asserted.

Until and unless those people whose houses have been burnt down and are staying in relief camps can return to their original places, no one should claim that peace has been restored in the State, he said.

The Congress candidate also pledged that he would work to revive the State's economy which has been crippled by the crisis.

Taking strong exception to the physical threats and cheap propaganda being circulated against him, Dr Bimol said that he would not be cowed down by such tactics and his supporters will only grow as long as the attempts to suppress him continue.

The ongoing crisis was engineered by external forces or intruders in collaboration with certain internal elements, Dr Bimol asserted.

He then called upon all the people to identify those traitors and teach them a befitting lesson in the ensuing election.

At another interaction programme held at the residence of MPCC Secretary Soraisam Manaoton at Mekola today, Dr Bimol Akoijam stated that he would never back away just because some people have been threatening him.

"We are all destined to die one day.

I would not be frightened by the threats made by some people", he said.

"Let me show to the people what an MP can do in five years within and outside Parliament and let it be a big lesson for the future MPs from Manipur", he asserted.

Saying that he is contesting the election to bring about a new and peaceful Manipur, he appealed to the voters not to let themselves be influenced by money power by forgetting all the major issues besieging the State.

"I decided to contest the election with a determination to address the plight of Manipuri people and raise the State's myriad issues in the Parliament.

Since I've already joined politics, I will never step back", he said.

Dr Bimol said that he would demonstrate that one can become a people's representative without money and muscle power.

He said that the BJP Government is a party to the conspiracy aimed at annihilating the Meitei community.

He then asked what was the State Government doing when Meitei Khumujamba Leikai of Churachandpur was flattened using bulldozers after the whole village was burnt down with a sinister intention to erase every sign of Meitei settlement.

The BJP Govt deliberately let it happen despite the presence of Churachandpur district administration and the police, he said.
