Imphal, November 12 2025:
The Koireng-led UNLF has warned all concerned against challenging its principle.
Some people have been creating wrong impressions and spreading ideas through social media like YouTube, Facebook etc among the people, particularly youth which are reactionary in nature, the outfit said in a statement issued by its Secretary of Publicity M Shak-Hen.
Such false ideas based on exclusive parochial outlook has the potential to disintegrate Manipur.
As such, it is essential to remind the outfit's position and principle with regard to the different communities living together in Manipur, it said.
The outfit said that the people know very well how the Government of India has changed its strategy from 'divide and rule' to 'divide and destroy' to suppress the liberation movement of Manipur.
Using armed Kukis, the Government of India launched its most potent offensive ever from May 3, 2023 to confine the Meitei people within the valley, alleged the outfit.
In addition, the Government of India has been waging a demographic war by settling Kuki immigrants from Myanmar in foothill areas, it alleged further.
While many people have lost their lives in the conflict, more than 60,000 people have been displaced from their homes.
Moreover, the State's economy has been upended as a result of the protracted conflict, the outfit said.
Manipur is a land of different communities which have their own unique cultures and identities.
Although the Meiteis settled in the valley are the biggest community, it is just one of the many communities living together in Manipur, the outfit said, reminding the people of its idea of Manipur.
Every community living together in Manipur for centuries has the right to protect and promote their unique identities.
Manipur should be a Nation where the communities respect each and are interdependent.
In order to put this idea into practice, there must be people's democracy, it said.
The outfit is not a group fighting for the Meitei community alone.
The outfit respects the identities of every community.
Yet, the responsibility of protecting and promoting the identities of communities should be shouldered by the respective communities, it said.
The outfit then warned all concerned to stop challenging its principle and idea of Manipur, and refrain from spreading false ideas which are reactionary in nature.
