Youth sent to police custody

A 28-year old youth from Singjamei Ngakrabam Leirak who was arrested for allegedly snat-ching weapon from security personnel on August 5 has been remanded to 10 days police custody yesterday.
He was produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West by a team of Singjamei Police Station yesterday seeking police custody remand for three days following his arrest under different sections of IPC and 25 (1-B) Arms Act.
The Court after hearing the prayer and the bail plea filed by defence counsel had ordered the police to release the youth on execution of Rs 80,000 PR bond.
However, the youth was re-arrested acting on an FIR lodged at Imphal Police Station in early part of May under different sections of IPC and 25 (1-B) Arms Act and 16 UA/P Act.
He was produced before the Session Court/NIA Court, Imphal East today by a team of Imphal Police Station under FIR number 104(5) 2023 for his alleged involvement in snatching of arms and ammunition from 9th IRB Mahila Battalion, Khuman Lampak on May 4 and prayed for 10 days police custody remand for smooth investigation of the case.
The defence counsel on the other hand filed a remand objection along with a prayer for releasing the arrested person on bail.
The Court on perusal of case record and after hearing the submissions remanded the arrested person into 10 days police custody till August 16 for further investigation into the case.
