Weapons recovered, PREPAK (Pro) member held

Imphal, January 07 2025:
Security forces recovered arms and ammunition near Irong Tangkhul village, Thoubal district, and arrested an active member of the banned organisation PREPAK (Pro) in a separate operations.
According to a statement issued by Manipur police control room, security teams conducted search operation near the riverbank of Hangoilok under Nongpok Sekmai police station on Tuesday morning leading to recovery of one 9 mm pistol with magazine, an improvised mortar (Pompi Gun), two 36 HE hand grenades, one detonator, two teargas shells (soft nose), one anti-riot dye marker grenade, 13 rounds, one binocular, a Baofeng radio set with charger, one Motorola Vertex Standard radio set, and 21 casings.
The recovered items were handed over to the police for further investigation.
In a separate operation, police arrested an active member of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) from Sunusiphai in Bishnupur district.
The arrested individual, identified as Taorem Premkumar Meitei alias Nanao (26) of Sunusiphai Mayai Leikai, Ward No 6, was apprehended during a targeted operation.
A mobile phone with a SIM card was recovered from his possession, the release added.
