Voting days declared paid holidays

Imphal, April 14 2024:
The state government has declared April 19 and 26, the days for casting vote for the 18th Lok Sabha election in Manipur, as paid holidays for all employees working in the private sector including shops, hotels, restaurants, workshops, educational institutions, printing press, newspaper establishments, training institutions, financial institutions, motor transport undertaking, etc.
In a notification, deputy labour commissioner Peter Salam informed that no deduction or abatement of wages of any such persons shall be made for the above-mentioned poll days on account of a holiday having been granted to the person in accordance with law.
The employers of all commercial and industrial establishments in private sector shall allow employees who are electors/voters but working elsewhere to obtain leave of absence with full wages on poll days to cast their vote/ exercise right of franchise in the elections, Peter Salam conveyed.
