Imphal, April 29 2025:
Indian Army on Tuesday dedicated three transformative Operation Sadbhavana projects to the people of Imphal East district.
Red Shield Division GOC major general SS Kartikeya, inaugurated the projects consisting of newly installed X-Ray machine at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Yaingangpokpi; high mast lights at the New Cannan village playground; and a Bakery unit at Wungya village.
While noting that dedication of the projects marks another significant milestone in the army's flagship Operation Sadbhavana, aimed at fostering goodwill, empowerment and holistic development across remote regions, the GOC expressed hope that installation of the X-Ray machine at PHC will enhance healthcare accessibility and diagnostic capabilities for residents of Yaingangpokpi and neighbouring villages.

Further enhancing community infrastructure, the newly installed high mast lights at the New Cannan village playground will allow sporting and community activities to continue safely after sundown, fostering a vibrant sports culture and encouraging greater youth participation in the area, he stressed.
According to a PRO Defence release, inauguration of the Bakery Unit at Wungya village is poised to serve as a catalyst for local economic empowerment, with special emphasis on women's entrepreneurship.
Beyond providing employment opportunities, the Bakery Unit is envisioned as a centre for skill development, supporting women's self-reliance, boosting economic independence, and nurturing the growth of small-scale industries in the region.
The day's events were marked by enthusiastic participation from local residents, healthcare workers, village authorities, and Indian Army personnel, underscoring a shared vision for sustainable rural development, prosperity, and peace.
Through Operation Sadbhavana, the Indian Army continues to build resilient, self-reliant communities across Manipur, reinforcing the spirit of unity, progress, and nation-building, said the PRO .
