Imphal, August 01 2024: JNIMS Students' Association has urged authorities concerned for appointing JNIMS director who is student-friendly, well versed on hospital environment and have teaching experience.

Speaking to media persons at Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, JNIMS Students' Association president Laishram Lenin informed that Prof Laishram Deven appointed as JNIMS director on July 7, 2021 completed his tenure on July 7, 2024 .

However, his tenure has been extended for a month with effect from July 27 by the Governor.

During the 20 days without the director, JNIMS students faced serious inconveniences, he lamented and charged the government of undermining importance of the hospital.

Recalling that as and when IAS officers were appointed as JNIMS director, they could hold the office for barely three-four months due to apparent naivety on hospital environment and management even if they are suave in administrative aspect, he urged for well qualified person having deep understanding of hospital's environment and teaching experience be considered for the position of JNIMS director when process for new appointment is initiated.
