National Girl Child Day observed

As in other parts of the country, the National Girl Child Day-2025 observance was organised by Integrated Rural Development Service Organisation (IRDSO) in association with WinG Thoubal and Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) at Kshetri Shanglen, Thoubal Mela Ground on Friday.
The function held under the theme "Empowering Girls For a Bright Future" was attended by Thoubal DC Ahanthem Sunash, MCPCR chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar and Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson Thumli Tiningpham Monsang as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, IRSDO chief functionary Nonebala Narengbam reminded the gathering that the observance is aimed at raising awareness about the rights, education, health and safety of the girl child, as well as address the challenges encountered by the girls.
According to DC Subash, the government has implemented various schemes for welfare and uphold rights of the girl child.
However, he expressed deep concern over reports about violation of these rights, stressed the need to put an end to, such practices and ensure that all government schemes cover the girl child.
