Sword Vashum elected TNL president

Ukhrul, May 22 2024:
Sword Vashum, a former MLA candidate, has been elected as the new president of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), the apex customary institution of the Tangkhul community.
The election took place Wednesday at TNL assembly hall, with Vashum securing a decisive victory against his close contender, former TKS president Yangmi Khapai.
Vashum will hold the position for the tenure 2024 to 2028 .
Vashum garnered 277 votes out of a total of 641 votes cast, while Khapai received 234 votes.
Former Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL) president SA Ramnganing secured 112 votes, followed by social activist Vareishang Zingkhai with 18 votes.
A total of 19 votes were deemed invalid.
