Under operation JAL RAHAT II, troops of Indian Army and Assam Rifles extended urgent assistance to the flood-affected residents of Khuringmul village, Chandel district on Saturday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in response to relentless rainfall over the past 48 hours, which led to the swelling of the Chapki river, a flood relief column was swiftly activated.
The troops responded to an.
emergency situation where connectivity was completely cut off, impacting three villages with a combined population of approximately 1000 people.
The swollen river, which is normally passable by foot, had become a significant hazard, especially for children and the elderly.
Recognising the urgency, the unit mobilised manpower and provided essential construction materials to erect a makeshift bridge, restoring vital access for the stranded villagers, it said.
