Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) celebrates 2nd foundation day

Nungba, February 26 2013: Amidst the stringent security measures taken up by security forces, the 2nd Foundation day of the underground Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) was celebrated at their tactical headquarters successfully on Monday.

Security forces including Assam Rifles and the Army, on getting information that the 2nd Raising day of the outfit will be celebrated at Mukti village in Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district, went on the alert and even dismantled all the decorative stages that have been erected for the event since Sunday night ahead of the celebration.

To ensure the successful observation of the day, officials and cadres of the outfit immediately shifted the venue to a nearby village and celebrated the raising day amid fanfare.

The ZUF flag was unfurled by the commander-in-chief, Jainchui Kamei who attended the function as chief guest.

The celebration was marked with the paying of tributes to the departed souls of the organization.

Gun salutes were also offered.

ZUF celebrates 2nd foundation day

Different troupes, representing the Zeliangrong community performed during the function.

A number of well wishers and sympathisers also turned up for the day.

Addressing the gathering, the commandar in chief Jainchui Kamei read out the message endorsed by its chairman, Kamson, and extended appreciation to the public of the region for extending their support and co-operation to the ZUF.

Giving due importance to the support of the public, the message of the chairman said that the cooperation and support extended by the public of the region will continue as long as the outfit respects the aspirations of the common people.

The chairman also sought constructive suggestions and feedbacks from the public of the region which will facilitate them in realizing their objectives and dreams.

Saluting the martyrs who have laid down their lives in the course of the struggle, the message said that their sacrifices have emboldened the others to continue the struggle for the realisation of the stated vision and the goal.

The message also thanked the Almighty for helping the ZUF to complete two years.

The outfit has been growing from strength to strength in almost every aspects including numerical strength and area expansion and so on.

ZUF is also committed to maintaining peace and harmony in Zeliangrong region, said the chairman in his message and added though the lives of the common people may have been disturbed on some occasions, there was no deliberate intention to cause such inconveniences.

The struggle can move ahead in the right direction as long as constructive suggestions continue to come from the common people, it said.

The chairman in his message also asserted that a big chunk of the ancesteral land of the Zeliangrong people have been bartered away to the Dimasas in NC Hills while other communities and State agencies are continue to eye the land and resources of the Zeliangrong people.

On the other hand, greater still is the threat of conspiracy being perpetrated by other people with divide and rule policy.

Sadly, some Zeliangrong people have fallen prey to this divide and rule policy being expounded and perpetrated by the enemies of the Zeliangrong people, claimed the message and appealed to the people to be vigilant.

The message of the chairman further assured that the ZUF will work whole heartedly to ensure the unity and integrity of the Zeliangrong People.

The ZUF is commited to continue and complete the unfinished task left behind by the Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu.
