NIA takes over

The NIA has taken over the case pertaining to the attack on a CRPF camp at Narenseina on April 27 last wherein two personnel of the Central force were killed while two others were injured.
Following the transfer of the case, the Special Court of the NIA, Manipur has directed the Investigation Officer of Moirang police station to hand over all the case related documents and material exhibits, if any, to the Chief Investigation Officer of the NIA.
The direction was given after an application was filed by NIA a few days back to re-register the FIR and handle the case records.
The Special PP of NIA submitted that Moirang police station had registered a case under different Sections of IPC, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act pertaining to the attack on 128 Battalion of CRPF deployed on the western side of 2nd IRB Headquarters at Naranseina Maning on April 27 by suspected militants and their associates who were heavily armed.
The Special PP of NIA further submitted that the case needs to be investigated by NIA in accordance with the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 given the gravity of the offence and security ramification.
In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Section (4) of Section 6 read with Section 8 of the NIA Act, 2008, the Central Government, in its order dated June 11 last, had directed the NIA to investigate the case.
The Special PP of NIA further stated that the NIA has re-registered the case under different Sections of IPC, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act, 1959 on June 13 last in compliance with the direction given by the Central Government.
The Special PP NIA thus prayed to allow the prayer of the Chief Investigating Officer of NIA, Imphal and to direct the Court concerned to transfer all the judicial dockets and case records to the NIA Court.
It further prayed before the NIA Court to issue directions to the Investigating Officer of Moirang police station to hand over all the case related documents, case diaries, seized material exhibits to the Chief Investigating Officer of NIA pertaining to the case.
The NIA Court on perusal of the application allowed the prayer of the NIA and directed the Court concerned to transfer all the judicial dockets/case records of the case to them on or before July 3 .
It also directed the IO of Moirang police station to hand over all the case related documents and materials exhibits, if any, to the Chief Investigating Officer of the NIA.
