Now Liangmai Market to open in Imphal

The Liangmai-Imphal Market will be officially opened for business at the campus of Tera Ideal Club at Tera Bazar tomorrow.
The Liangmai-Imphal Market Committee has urged the public to check out the brand new market where organic vegetables produced by the Liangmai community will be available for purchase.
Speaking to media persons at Tera Ideal Club today, Sanajaoba Nongthombam, convenor, Liangmai-Imphal Market Committee said the market will be opened from early morning tomorrow, however, the official inaugural function will be held at 10 am.
The inaugural ceremony will be attended by former Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the chief guest; Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, MLA Patsoi AC and Awangbow Newmai, MLA, Tamei AC as the guests of honour.
Around 100 Liangmai vendors will sell their produce at the market.
On another note, he pointed out that Liangmai is a small community with around 80,000 people scattered across different parts of the State.
As the Liangmai community settled in Kangpokpi face hurdles in selling their produce owing to the restive situation in Manipur, the 9-member Liangmai-Imphal Market Committee was formed.
Saying this, he once again sought public support for the market set up by the Liangmais from Kangpokpi district.
Sanajaoba Nongthombam further shared that the Liangmai-Imphal Market will operate as a mobile market.
It will set up shop in different localities in consultation with the respective clubs and meira paibis.
Meanwhile, Ch Wisobou, vice chairman of the Committee, expressed appreciation for the initiative which was reportedly led by members of the Meitei community.
He urged the public of Imphal to come and check out the market and buy the organic produce for sale.
