Th Radheshyam resigns as Advisor to Chief Minister
Let's stop telling lies, let's speak only the truth : MLA

Imphal, April 13 2023: Internal discord and dissension have apparently started rearing its head with MLA Thokchom Radheshyam stepping down from the post of Advisor to the Chief Minister.

Th Radheshyam's resignation letter addressed to the Chief Minister went viral on the social media today.

Notably, Th Radheshyam served as a Cabinet Minister of Education and Labour & Employment for a few years under the BJP 1.0 Government led by N Biren.

Th Radheshyam elected from Heirok AC was appointed as an Advisor to the Chief Minister on January 1, 2023 under the incumbent BJP 2.0 Government.

According to the BJP MLA's resignation letter, Radheshyam was not entrusted any responsibility even though he was appointed as an Advisor to the Chief Minister.

"I would like to contribute and focus on the Lok Sabha elections 2023 and also development works in my Constituency", Radheshyam said in his resignation letter.

Radheshyam was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2017 after he took voluntary retirement from Manipur Police.

He was then serving as a DIG.

As an Education Minister, Radheshyam introduced the School Fagathansi Mission at the initiative of Chief Minister N Biren in 2019 .

Together with V Hangkhanlian (Minister of Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry) and Nemcha Kipgen (Minister of Social Welfare and Cooperation), Th Radheshyam was dropped from the Council of Ministers by Chief Minister N Biren on September 24, 2020 .

In their place, three BJP MLAs were inducted into the Council of Ministers.

Th Radheshyam was elected from Heirok AC for the second time in 2022 and he is currently serving as the president of Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) .

Notably, Radheshyam took leave and stayed away from the recent Manipur Legislative Assembly session.

Before his resignation letter went viral on social media, Th Radheshyam uploaded a video clip saying that he is currently at Delhi for treatment of his legs.

In the six-minute video clip, the BJP MLA said, "What we speak and what we do must match or correspond to each other if there must be transparency" .

"We have seen volumes of lies being spoken very impressively.

People know and see these lies.

If we continue to speak such lies on public platforms and through social media, we are ashamed of being politicians", Radheshyam said.

"Let's stop telling lies.

Let's speak only the truth.

In that case, there will be no antagonism or tension and we will be able to strengthen our integrity and bring rapid development", he said.

"There will be neither development nor improvement if we, public leaders, continue to tell lies to departments and the people of respective Assembly Constituencies.

If we continue to behave in such (deceitful) manner, the future generations will be utterly confused and disoriented.

Let's stop pretending in the interest of the future generations", he continued.

He then bowed and appealed to all politicians and leaders to lead the younger generations on the right path.

The video clipped uploaded by Th Radheshyam tagged Hamara app, NaMo app, Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, BJP India, BJP for India, BJP Manipur, Information Technology Department BJP Manipur, BJP Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, BJP Thoubal District, BJYM Heirok Mandal and BJP Heirok Mandal.

Radheshyam said that he went to Delhi for treatment of his legs at Max Hospital which was hit by a bullet in the past.

Saying that he came to Deer Park, Delhi to walk for some time, he said that he was impressed with the beauty, size and magnificence of the park.

Such a park cannot be developed if there is no space and it is unlikely that Manipur would get such a park even after 10 years because there is not enough space, he said.

Moreover, there is no one among the present leadership who have a vision to develop such a magnificent park, he continued.

Of late, there had been much talks on saving the territory of Manipur including in electronic media.

There is also an Act which prohibits sale of land to outsiders and conversion of agricultural land to commercial space.

Notwithstanding the Act, people have seen large swathes of agricultural land being transformed for commercial purposes, Radheshyam said.

As the elected representatives too are involved in purchase/sale of lands and transformation of agricultural lands, they (elected representatives) have no right to preach about the Act to the people, he asserted.

If the Revenue Department brings out all the records of sale/purchase of land made during the last five years and if the Registrar office brings out a list of all the people and their relatives in whose names newly purchased lands were registered, people would definitely know who purchased maximum lands and who twisted rules to register newly purchased lands, Radheshyam said.

If the people's growing suspicion in the BJP Government must be put to rest, it is essential to bring out all the details of those people/agents who bought lands/properties and transformed agricultural lands for commercial purposes during the last 5/6 years.

If the Revenue Department can bring out a detailed report on the sale/purchase of lands and transformation of agricultural lands made during the time of the BJP Government, the Government would definitely win back the people's trust, he said.

"If we continue to buy lands including agricultural lands while preaching to the people not to sell lands to outsiders and protect agricultural lands, it would be sheer hypocrisy", he said.

The Government needs to demonstrate to the public that it has been working sincerely and transparently, the BJP MLA added.

Regarding his decision to step down from the post of Advisor to the Chief Minister, Radheshyam said that he received phone calls from some people of Heirok AC informing that all the roads of Heirok AC are in very bad shape.

"They requested me to repair these roads if I am an advisor to the CM", he said.

Some retired teachers also complained that they have not been given their monthly pension since a very long time back, added the MLA.

"Even though I was an advisor to the CM, I could not do anything about these people's grievances.

Despite being an advisor to the CM, I did not have the least power", he confided.

"Subsequently, I tendered my resignation from the post of Advisor to the Chief Minister through WhatsApp", Radheshyam said in a Facebook post.
