CRPF sees red over live bullets fired at them

Imphal, June 09 2025: Tension erupted this afternoon after an unknown armed miscreant fired several rounds of bullets upon security personnel at Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West district.

The security personnel, deployed at the Tera Sapam Leirak Machin, were cleaning the road for free movement of the general public at around 2.30 pm when seven shots were fired at them by the unknown miscreant.

Earlier, protesters had pelted stones and fired slingshots toward the security personnel, who were taking up security measures in the area for the movement of Security Advisor from Langjing upto his office.

Even as security personnel including a team of CRPF were dispersing the protesters, an unknown armed miscreant fired seven rounds of bullets at them using small firearm.

Soon after the incident, a large number of security personnel cordoned the area to pursue and arrest the miscreant.

However, womenfolk in large number gathered and prevented the security personnel from going deep into the locality to conduct any search.

The situation in the area was tense with heavy security measures taken up to prevent further unwanted incidents.

Lamphel police have registered a case regarding the incident.
