Jiribam, August 01 2025:
The Jiribam district hospital at Uchathol has reportedly been converted into a camp for Central security forces, housing a large number of CRPF personnel.
It is alleged that the Central security forces are being stationed at the hospital without obtaining the necessary approval from the competent authority.
Coinciding with this development, Dr Mohd Yunus Ali, Medical Superintendent of Jiribam District Hospital, issued a notice yesterday requiring prior authorization for entry of non-patient parties into the hospital.
The notice said that any third party-excluding patients and their immediate relatives, must obtain prior approval from the Medical Superintendent to enter the premises of the hospital.
It said that the protocol is enforced to maintain a secure and orderly hospital environment and to safeguard the privacy and wellbeing of the patients.
Individuals such as vendors, contractors, external service providers, organisation representatives and media personnel are required to submit a formal request at least 48 hours in advance, it said and added that no entry will be allowed without prior permission.
A source at the district hospital stated that two to three companies of CRPF personnel were stationed at the hospital during the peak of the crisis in Jiribam for duties like escort.
However, although the numbers are fewer currently, the security personnel are occupying the upper floor of the hospital without taking due approval, disrupting its environment, the source claimed.
The stationing of Central security force personnel is disrupting the hospital's repair and maintenance work, it said and added that the security personnel are also using the water storage unit, causing inconvenience to patients and hospital officials.
Saying that the hospital staff as well as the patients want the security personnel to be shifted elsewhere, the source urged the relevant authority to look into the matter and do the needful.
