Survey works for border marking and construction of border roads for border fencing in Manipur (Moreh) sector of Indo-Myanmar border have been completed.
Ground works for fencing 10 kms of Indo-Myanmar border from border pillar number 79 to border pillar number 81, 10 feet inside Indian territory from the international boundary line have been completed This was observed during a recent visit by a team of media persons to the border area.

With security cover provided by Assam Rifles, the Survey of India and BRO conducted Recce Survey Trans Cutting (RSTC).
Zero point marking of the international border and construction of border roads started in August this year after receiving wild life clearance from the Green Bench of the Supreme Court.
According to information received from AR authorities, stocking of necessary fencing materials has begun at different points along the border so that fencing work can be initiated within two/three months.
Plans are also afoot to open two more AR posts specifically to guard fencing.
The project taken up by New Delhi to check trans-border movement of insurgents as well as cross-border drugs and arms smuggling affected Yaingangpokpi Wildlife Sanctuary.
For this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has released Rs 5 crores as compensation to the State Govt.Notably, the Centre has agreed in-principle to the State Govt's proposal to fence the whole length of Indo-Myanmar border's Manipur sector which is 374 kms long.
On the other hand, the Border Management Director of the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the State Govt to acquire required land and hand over the same to Assam Rifles for setting up an integrated check post at Moreh.
The Director's intimation also mentioned that the State Govt has been already given Rs 21 crores to pay compensation for acquiring 38.34 acres of land.
