Imphal, December 14 2009:
The three-day golden jubilee celebrations of Hoomi Joint Leaders' Union (HJLU) had been organised from December 11 to 13 at Hoomi village in Chingai subdivision, Ukhrul district.
Founder of HJLU, Rev LR Lolly, President of HJLU K Dhrmasing Khangaz, ex-president of the Union, Z Sh Stone and President of United Committee Manipur (UCM), Yumnamcha Dilipkumar were chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively at the inaugural ceremony of the golden jubilee celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Rev LR Lolly said, Hoomi village has made much advancement towards development after formation of the Union of the leaders.

The Union has taken up a number of developmental works for the people of the village and surrounding areas in the past years.
Residents of the village have been able to live in unity because of the Union which had been formed jointly by students' body, women's body, youth clubs and village authority, Rev Lolly said.
However, he expressed unhappiness over the negligence of the government.
He said, there are 1,500 people of 262 households in the village.
The road leading to the village is pretty bad.
The 40 km long road from Ukhrul to Hoomi village is really pitiable.
The distance between Imphal and Ukhrul HQ is 85 kms.
But the time taken in the journey from Ukhrul to Hoomi village is much longer than the time taken in travelling from Imphal to Ukhrul, Rev Lolly lamented.
He further pointed out that the village is still backward in many fields.
Availability of drinking water is a great problem.
Health care measures are also non-existent.
There is not a single health centre at the village.
The villagers have to go to health centres located at other neighbouring villages for treatment.
Even the neighbouring villages are about 10 kms far away from Hoomi village, he said.
Since it is very difficult to go to the far away health centres at the time of delivery, pregnant women of the village have to turn to the local Maibees for help in child-birth.
President of the Union, K Dharmasing Khangaz, while speaking at the inaugural function, narrated the history of the HJLU.
He said, the Union was formed with the objective producing qualified leaders of the village so that they would work honestly with dedication toward development.
He also appealed to all people to live in peace and love.
President of UCM, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said, the most important objective of the UCM is integrity and communal harmony of the peoples of the hills and the plains and peaceful co-existence.
He expressed sadness over the various problems being faced by the villagers as regards the pathetic condition of the road, non-existence of health care service, non-availability of drinking water, etc.
He assured the villagers that the UCM will take up the matters with the authorities concerned to take necessary action to improve the conditions with delay.
The team of UCM donated one water tanker, some blankets and Rs 3,000 to the office bearers of HJLU.
