Imphal, August 28 2022: Phundrei Battalion Assam Rifles organised a mass tree plantation drive at Heikakpokpi village in Kakching district to promote Go Green Initiative.

Informing that the plantation drive was carried out under the initiative of Assam Rifles, Kakching Forest Division and locals with an aim to promote afforestation, create clean and green environment thereby reducing impacts of global warming, a PRO IGAR (S) release said that a total of 1000 saplings were planted at various locations of the village.

Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion Assam Rifles organised a friendly football match between Assam Rifles and Tengnoupal KSO team at Tengnoupal on Saturday in connection with the National Sports Day which falls on Monday.

National Sports Day is celebrated to mark the tradition of sports in India and as a tribute to the Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, the PRO said in a release, adding that Assam Rifles team won the match by 3-2 margin.

Post-match, the players were felicitated with medals and prizes.
