Ex-servicemen rally conducted in Kakching

Assam Rifles organised an ex-servicemen rally on Saturday at Kakching Garrison, bringing together 298 ex-servicemen, 58 'Veer Naris'/widows, wards of two World War II veterans, and 74 dependents from across the state.
According to a press release from PRO IGAR (S), the programme held under the theme 'Pride in Service: Remembering, Reflecting, and Rekindling' honoured veterans and their families for their sacrifices and services.
Dignitaries including DGAR Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (S) major general Ravroop Singh, retired Lt Gen Konsam Himalay Singh, DIG Range 2 H Jogeshchandra Singh, Kakching deputy commissioner Rohit Anand, SP Kakching Shrey Vats, special secretary to home commissioner, Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association president Subedar L Tomba Singh and 28 Sector AR Kakching commander brigadier Gaurav Kapoor attended the rally.
The rally featured service-oriented booths such as a medical camp, social welfare centre, skill development facility, and Assam Rifles' exclusive support desks.
These kiosks offered one-stop solutions to various challenges faced by veterans and their families, it added.
During the event, 10 wheelchairs, 19 hearing aids, 39 walking sticks, two mobile commode chairs, six blankets and others were distributed to the beneficiaries.
Around 300 electric kettles were also given to AR ex-servicemen, 'Veer Naris' and dependents.
The event showcased diverse cultural performances, including the Khukri dance and pipe band displays by AR, alongside traditional Manipuri dances.
