Expired goods worth ₹50K seized in Chakpikarong Bazar

Kakching, July 12 2025: Expired goods worth Rs 50,000 were seized from various shops and disposed of during a drive against expired goods in Chakpikarong Bazar, Chandel district led by Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (ALT), Chakpikarong Branch on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons, ALT Chakpikarong Branch general secretary Hl Michael informed that the drive was conducted after receiving reports about expired goods being sold at the market.

"So, we carried out the drive, and true to the reports, we seized expired goods worth Rs 50,000," he said.

Various youth clubs from in and around Chakpikarong area, including Toupokpi, Dangkhu, Tampi, Kh/Khullen, Thormcham, Charongching, Analkhunou, Chakpikarong, Kh/Novokom, Rungchang, ALT P Khudam and ALT Salluk executive members, along with members of Chakpikarong Bazar Board, also took part in the drive.

While appreciating those who participated in the drive against expired goods, the ALT Chakpikarong Branch warned that severe action would be taken against shops found selling expired goods in the future.

"This is a very dangerous practice, as expired products can adversely affect one's health," Michael asserted, adding, "We'll see to it that such incidents are not repeated" .
