Tousem Headquarters Students' Union (THSU) and Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) have announced that they are left with no choice but to resort to various forms of agitation to highlight the grievances of Tousem public as the' state government has failed to provide positive response to the genuine demands of the people, which was submitted in a joint memorandum, within the given stipulated time.
In a release, THSU general secretary Rangeuding Newme informed that the student bodies had submitted a memorandum to chief minister N Biren Singh on August 16 with a 30-day ultimatum to relocate office of the sub-divisional officer (SDO) to Tousem headquarters, from its present location in Tamenglong district headquarters, and address government negligence of Tousem sub-division.
Asserting that the long-standing grievances of Tousem sub-division can no longer be ignored, THSU warned that the state government will be held fully responsible for any untoward incidents or consequences arising from these actions.
"We urge the government to take immediate action to meet the demands and avoid further unrest," it reiterated.
