Convergence mela conducted at Govindagram

Bishnupur, July 07 2025: A one-day convergence mela was held on Monday at Govindagram Lai Haraop ham under Wangoi Community Development (CD) Block.

The event was organised by Village Level Federations (VLFs) of Lairenjam Meijrao Gram Panchayat (GP), including Mangal, Apunbana Pangalni, Lamhingbi, Anouba Mangal, Thembi Lairenjam, Apunbagi Shakti, Korounganba and Ipa Soraren.

The mela was conducted under the aegis of the PRI-CBO Convergence Project of the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM).

Wangoi MLA Khuraijam Loken and Lairenjam Meijrao GP Chairperson Tongbram Manglemba Singh were present as chief guest and president respectively, while Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, additional DC Keisham Jadumani Singh, Wangoi SDO M Suranjoy Singh, BDO Sonia Haobijam and SDC H Diana Devi were the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Loken acknowledged the pivotal role of women in driving the state's development, while crediting the dedicated efforts of the Self Help Groups (SHGs) and VLF of Lairenjam Meijrao GP for bringing visible progress to the community.

The event was also attended by MSRLM Imphal West district mission manager Nongmaithem Prabeena, SISD Imphal West district coordinator Thokchom Seema; Wangoi Block mission manager K Jagjeet Sharma; and Wangoi Block Cluster coordinator Yumnam Gangarani Devi as special guests.
