Memchoubi named for Mahakabl Anganghal award

Fiction and Poetry Club, Manipur has selected Arambam Memchoubi for the Mahakabi Anganghal Sheireng Mana, 2023 for her poetry book 'Thamamba Ahing'.
According to the club, three books - Rajkumar Bhubansana's 'Heikha Mapalna Thunglabada', Memchoubi's 'Thamamba Ahing' and Samurailatpam Shantibala's 'Leimarembinee Ei' were shortlisted for the award and the jury members namely professor Polem Nabachandra, Dr Moirangthem Priyabrata, and Ningombam Nando selected 'Thamamba Ahing' for the award, which consists of Rs 25,000 in cash, shawl and citation.
The award will be presented on the occasion of Manipuri Sheireng Numit to be held on October 28 .
Arambam Memchoubi, maiden name Thounaojam Chanu Ibemhal, was born at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai in Imphal West in 1955.She is now a resident of Sagolband Meino Leirak.
She completed MA and PhD under Manipur University.
She has, so far, penned and published 16 books of poetry, prose, critical analysis, translation and travelogue.
'Nonggoubi' (poetry, 1984), 'Androgee Mei' (poetry, 1990), 'Sandrembi Chaisra' (poetry, 1993), 'Eigee Palem Nungshibi' (poetry, 1998), 'Wakma Maibi' (prose, 1999), 'Haoreima Sambubi' (prose, 2000), 'Europekee Mapao' (travelogue, 2001), 'Idu Ningthou' (poetry, 2005), 'Tawngbo; Irabotkee Aroiba Yahipham' (biography, 2015), 'Thamamba Ahing' (poetry, 2021) and 'KortoyaTorbanda' (memoir, 2023) are some of her mentionable books.
She had been honoured with Khaidem Pramodini Ningsing Gold Medal (1995), Sahitya Akademi Award (2008), and Khamba Thoibi Literary Award (2022) in the past.
