Imphal, January 07 2025:
National Research Centre (NRC) organised one day discussion programme on the topic 'Manipur and Geopolitics' at the Naorem Sanajaoba Public Library Hall near MU main gate on Tuesday.
The discourse was held with by Committee on Human Rights (COHR) chairman Phulindro Konsam and NRC president Thongam Ajit as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Thongam Ajit noted that the on-going conflict in the state was initially perceived as an internal issue.
However, following a series of unexpected incidents, experts have uncovered evidence suggesting that the conflict is, in fact, driven by geopolitics.
This startling discovery prompted NRC to organise a programme aimed at exploring the issue further, he said.
Symbiosis Law School, Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Pune International Law assistant professor Laishram Malem Mangal spoke on 'Geo-Politics and International Law: Locating Manipur' and Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Nagaland University assistant professor Ch Gunamani on 'Manipur in the Global Geo-Politics' .
