Symposium on plastic pollution held

YK College, Wangjing Environment Club and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised a College Level Symposium on 'Ending Plastic Pollution Globally' at the college's multipurpose hall on Saturday.
The symposium held in connection with World Environment Day was attended by YK College, Wangjing principal professor Khundrakpam Jugindro Singh, Department of Physics head associate professor Okram Binoykumar Singhand Department of Zoology head associate professor Dr Moirangthem Chinamen Chanu as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, principal Kh Jugindro observed that though plastic has been very useful for humans, its rampant misuse and unregulated disposal is harming not only humans but also other life forms.
He encouraged the public, especially students to learn about the uses of plastic and its harmful effects.
The winners of the symposium were Longjam Yaipharembi Devi, who secured the first position, Merina Thiyam was in second position and Ngangom Ricky Singh got the third position.
The winners were presented with citations, certificates and cash prizes by the presidium members.
