Wangjing-Tentha MLA Brojen inaugurates youth centre

Imphal, February 20 2023: Wangjing-Tentha MLA & Manipur Development Society (MDS) chairman Paonam Brojen on Monday inaugurated a Deen Dayal Upadhyay Multi Utility Youth Centre constructed by MDS at Yairipok Top Chingtha Pukhri Achouba Mapal under Andro assembly constituency, Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, MLA P Brojen expressed delight that the people of Top Chingtha can now enjoy the benefits of the centre constructed with the aim of providing facilities for healthy living to the people, as a part the N Biren government's objective to keep the people of state, the youth in particular, away from drugs and to promote healthy lifestyle.

Mentioning that the centre has facilities such as gym for the youth to exercise and information centre where they could get latest news and other information, he appealed to the public to think of the centre as their own and utilise it properly.

On the other hand, as the functional president, Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar said that though the AC has seen much development, there are still some people who are obstructing developmental works.

He also announced that blacktopping of the road from Azad Golai to Top Chingtha Nganba Keithel will be completed before Yaoshang festival.

A survey will be conducted soon for expansion of the road, he said and appealed to people to donate land for the road expansion.

If anyone tries to block or sabotage the road expansion project then legal action would be initiated, he cautioned.

The MLA also said that water supply connection will be provided to residents of Top Chingtha and Laimanai as and when the under-construction water supply scheme is completed.

Informing that the government has completed draft policy for legalisation of liquor, MLA Shyamkumar lamented some people are harbouring the false notion that it will open the flood gates for rampant selling and consumption of liquor.

In fact, the step has been taken to ensure that after legalisation only licenced shops can sell liquor following laid down rules and regulations instead of the present situation where everyone is selling them illegally in their locality or shop, he further emphasised.

Meanwhile, MDS project director Robertson Asem informed that Deen Dayal Upadhyay Multi Utility Youth Centre has been established to provide grassroots level facility to youth to maintain healthy lifestyle.

The centre will have a basic gym and media room with smart TV for their usage, he said, adding that a service centre will be opened with computers and staff for providing domicile, income, residential certificates, etc.

The programme was also attended by MDS CFO S Somorendro, chief engineer S Rupakumar, Tulihal Zilla Parishad member & BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary K Inaocha Devi, MLA Shyamkumar's wife Babita Devi, and BJP Andro Mandal president M Babu.
