World No Tobacco Day observed

Kakching, October 19 2024:
District Health Society (DHS), Kakching observed World No Tobacco Day at Yangdong under the theme 'Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference' alongside launch event of newly upgraded Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM), Elangkhanpokpi and AAM, Mayang Lamjaobu on Saturday.
The programme was attended by Hiyanglam MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam as chief guest and DHS, Kakching mission director/Kakching chief medical officer Dr Thaodem Rajen as president.
Speaking at the event, MLA Dr Y Radheshyam exhorted the public to realise the negative impact of using tobacco, which killed more people than dreaded Covid-19 pandemic, and urged the public to give up tobacco addiction.
Speaking about the two AAMs, he said that though the two centres have begun operation, formal inauguration will be held after the Centre gives approval.
He further said that the Primary Health Sub Centres (PHSCs) at Tokpaching and Sekmaijin Khunou will also be inaugurated soon and PHSC, Langmeidong will be upgraded to Primary Health Centre.
