Senapati, July 29 2025:
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor on Tuesday, Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) has sought an enquiry into the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Senapati district.
In the representation, PNTM president Lepaonah L Pule Lovejoy alleged discrepancies in the implementation of the centrally-sponsored JJM scheme in the.
region.
While the official website claims that over 75 per cent of rural households under their jurisdiction have tap connections, the memorandum stated that the reality is starkly different, with no functional tap connections.
Despite the mission s promise for 100 per cent connectivity by 2024, the Poumai Naga community continues to suffer from acute water scarcity.
The consequences of this disparity include unmet community needs, eroded public trust, and potential social unrest, the memorandum added.
The students' body then urged the Governor s office to conduct an independent enquiry into the mission's execution within the jurisdiction, emphasising that intervention is crucial to address the pressing issue and ensure accountability and transparency.
