Imphal, May 25 2025:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) president YK Dhiren has emphasised that the social boycott of Governor-in-Council is justified considering his covert endorsement to attempts to disintegrate Manipur.
Reflecting on the Gwaltabi incident during which address at the launch of UCM Malom unit at Malom Makha community hall on Sunday, Dhiren asserted that attempt to remove Manipur from the MST bus itself proves proxy war being orchestrated by the central government to disintegrate Manipur.
He claimed that reluctance by the Governor to issue a clarification on the matter underscores that the government led by the Governor is deeply involved in scheming to balkanise the state.
As such, the call to boycott the Governor is legitimate, Dhiren reasoned.
According to a release issued by Information & Public Relations secretary Soibam Anil, the UCM president also criticised MLAs of the state for their inability to unite and exert pressure on the central government, and called upon the people to collectively foil all attempts to divide the state on ethnic lines.
The programme was also attended by NUPI SAMAJ advisor Khundrakpam Indu, UCM secretary general Shanta Nahakpam and Malom Tuli-yaima Makha Leikai Progressive Women Welfare Association president Thokchom Leirentombi as presidium members.
Office bearers of the new unit are Sinam Purnima as chairperson and Yendrembam Tomba as general secretary, informed the release.
