Imphal, October 19 2024:
Terming the demand of the 19 ruling MLAs for replacement of chief minister N Biren Singh as 'untimely', Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims (COPMEV), Moreh has urged for collective efforts to bring peaceful resolution to the current crisis.
According to a COPMEV statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs conducted a joint meeting for Meetei, Naga and Kuki MLAs on October 15 at New Delhi to bring solution to the present crisis.
Contrary to the ongoing efforts to bring back peace and normalcy in the state, 19 BJP MLAs demanded replacement of CM N Biren Singh.
"Their demand, as such, is not only untimely but also selfish," COPMEV said, adding that the step taken by the 19 MLAs led by speaker Th Satyabrata was not right.
The COPMEV further stated that the demand raised by the 19 MLAs was akin to supporting the Kukis who are demanding replacement of CM Biren Singh since the beginning of the on-going conflict.
The committee appealed to the MLAs to rather work together to bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
