Thoubal, June 14 2024:
Volunteers of the Anti-Drugs Cell of All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC) rounded up eight drug users on Friday with four of them referred to rehabilitation centres and the remaining handed over to their respective family members after arriving at an understanding at the committee's office on Friday.
Informing this in a statement, AMMDC highlighted the impact of drug abuse in the society with the number of drug users increasing day by day.
It called upon local clubs and organisations as well as Meira Paibi groups to support AMMDC in the drive against drugs in order to make the society free from drugs.
It also appealed to the family members of drug users to cooperate with the Committee in its drive and help in ensuring a drug free society instead of threatening its volunteers for rounding up their family members for using or selling drugs.
