ANTA decries wrong portraying of dance

Imphal, March 14 2022: Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) has vehemently condemned the wrongful portrayal of Anal traditional dance by troupe at Anal Khullen on February 23.A release issued by ANTA information and publicity secretary contended that the said group of people mocked at the Anal culture in the form of travestying the traditional dance that deeply hurt the sentiment of the Anal community.

The performers also 'defamed' the culture and custom of Anal community which is not acceptable, ANTA said and pointed out that neither prior information was given by the group of people nor permission sought from the village chief for entering the village.

Hence, it is an infringement on Anal culture, tradition and custom which is punishable offence under the customary law, the secretary maintained.

While informing that a meeting was held at Anal Khullen community hall on March 12 with the participation of Anal civil bodies.

Anal Khullen Vuncho Organisation, Anal Khullen Village Authority, church pastors and villagers, the release said those gathered condemned the event and appealed to those involved not to provoke the sentiment of the Anal society in the future.
