44 AR organised "Jashn-e-Azadi"

On the auspicious day of Eid-ul-Adha, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) organised a colourful event Jashn e Azadi" at iconic Rani Gaidinliu Helipad, Tamenglong.
According to an AR statement, the Battalion saluted the invincible grit, courage, valour and dedication of the brave soldiers and civilians of Tupul incident and paid homage to the fallen heroes during the event.
As a remembrance to the departed souls, the event started with a minute's silence and lighting of diya.
Saluting the valiant, who lost their lives in the incident, a befitting military band ceremony was organised.
Also celebrating the spirit of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", the cultural extravaganza showcased the vivid culture of India.
The veterans, veer naris and locals from Tamenglong joined the commandant and all ranks in the celebration and paying their tribute to the departed souls.
Acknowledging the efforts and cooperation of the local people, who had stepped out during such difficult times, the commandant said that any words of praise for these civilian fighters would be less and it should be our duty to appreciate their help and contribution.
They ensured that the rescue operations continue unhindered during day and night.
All their efforts need to be acknowledged and appreciated.
It may be mentioned that "Jashn-e-Azadi" is an Assam Rifles' initiative to recognise the services of the soldiers and civilians who laid their lives while contributing towards development of the region.
The stellar performance by the military band and the troops of the Battalion during the cultural programme established a deep cultural connect among the citizens witnessing the event which epitomised the prevalent concept of "Unity in Diversity" and "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" .
