Monsang tribe celebrates 100 years of Christianity

Thoubal, February 11 2025: Celebrating 100 years of the Monsang community embracing Christianity, a monument marking the centennial was unveiled by National Council of Baptist Churches of India (NCBCI) general secretary reverend Samaresh Nayak, on Monday.

The function organised by Monsang Naga Baptist Churches' Association (MNBCA), Monsang Naga Christian Centenary Celebration (1925-2025) under the theme "Qelebrating God s Faithfulness" was held at the Mission Centre, Khoriibung, Japhou in Chandel district.

As part of the event, a centenary workshop service was held, followed by hymns performed by the choir of Aimol Baptist Association (ABA), presentation of special song by Liwa Changning Baptist Church, Japhou Baptist Church, and Monsang Baptist Fellowship Imphal.

Gifts were also distributed to representatives of various associations from Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.

The function was also attended by MNBCA president Kh Mobershing, former women secretary Thumdin, executive secretary reverend Alani Shongsir, Chothe Baptist Churches' Association executive secretary reverend Dr Hranum Khiang, Maring Naga Baptist Association executive secretary reverend D Songin, Liwa Sarei Baptist Church pastor reverend G Khartu, Changnhe Baptist Church pastor Ng Bengamshing, MNBCA former executive secretary reverend W Moses and vice president K Tathangam.
