Bishnupur, May 25 2025:
A protest rally was taken out at Nambol and sit-in protest staged at Keinou on Sunday to protest the May 20 Gwaltabi incident, wherein a media team travelling in a Manipur State Transport (MST) bus to cover the Shirui Lily Festival was stopped by Mahar Regiment and told to cover or erase 'Manipur' from the bus.
The rally organised by United Protection Committee (UPC), Nambol started from Nambol Bazar and near Nambol police station.
Speaking to media persons, UPC Women's Wing secretary L Premila Leima demanded that resignation of the Governor as he has no knowledge about Manipur and disregards sentiment of the people.

Calling as both provocative and insidious the Mahar Regiment's insistence that a government-run bus should not operate in the state with the word 'Manipur' inscribed, she declared unwavering support to agitation launched by COCOMI and other organisations if the issue is not resolved at the earliest.
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons at the Keinou sit-in, a member of Apunba Meira Lup Keinou condemned injuries caused to womenfolk during the protest on Sunday, while adding that they will extend support to the public protest against the Gwaltabi incident.
