MHJU founding President L Chinkhanlian no more

Imphal, November 15 2024:
Manipur Hill Journalists' Union (MHJU) founding president as well as editor and proprietor of Churachandpur based daily 'Manipur Express' L Chinkhanlian Tanchin Tomkim, passed away on Friday at Churachandpur district hospital after prolonged battle against Liver cancer and diabetes.
The daily (Manipur Express) published in 1981 was the first ever recorded leading newspaper in Paite language dominating the arena of journalism in Churachandpur.
His body was laid to rest at Lamka cemetery.
Churachandpur Working Reporters' Union, affiliated to AMWJU, condoled the death by wrapping him with a traditional shawl.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul District Working Journalists' Association (UDWJA) condoled the untimely demise of L Chinkhanlian Tanchin Tomkim.
In a condolence message, UDWJA president L Lester Makang remembered L Chinkhanlian as a respected journalist and a visionary.
"His passing is a monumental loss, not only to MHJU but also to the larger journalistic community of the state.
His legacy of integrity and passion for truth will continue to inspire generations of journalists," Lester lamented, while praying for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
"During this time of grief, UDWJA stands in solidarity with his bereaved family, friends, and colleagues," he added.
