Mera Chaoren Houba celebrated

Mera Chaoren Houba, one of the important religious festivals of Meetei community that falls on the first day of Meetei lunar month Mera was celebrated in different parts of the state on Sunday.
Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) celebrated the festival in a solemn manner at Kangla and Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen at Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham.
According to LSTB vice-president Bidyapati Senjam, Mera Chaoren Houba is an important festival of people following Sanamahi religion and prayers were offered for peace, prosperity and welfare of the people.
Members of Huiyen Mamom also participated in the ritual and took an oath.
On the other hand, International Salai Punsipham, 33rd unit located at Meitram, Mekola celebrated the festival with religious rituals at Lainingthou Sanamahi Shanglen, Meitram.
People including Meira Paibi members from surrounding villages like Meitram, Malom, Kodompokpi and Lairenjam took part in the festival wherein they offered prayer for restoring peace and for the departed souls of the martyrs, who have laid down their lives for the community and the state.
