IDPs from Churachandpur hold joint consultative meet

Bishnupur, April 13 2025: The internally displaced peoples (IDPs) from Churachandpur district currently taking refuge at various relief camps of the valley district held a joint consultative meeting today at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong.

The meeting was organised by Churachandpur Meitei United Committee an apex body of Meitei Society Churachandpur, Meitei Youth Organisation, Churachandpur Meitei Ethnic Clash Victim Committee, Ima Leimarel Churachandpur and Nupi Samaj Churachandpur.

After thorough deliberation with the people at the meeting, the Committee resolved to demand the Govt and the authorities to provide a suitable Government job to one family member of every household based on their qualifications as a livelihood programme and to provide a piece of land with an area of .4 to construct temporary shelter until they could return to their original homes.

"If the Government and the authorities failed to meet the demands of the Committee, the IDPs along with the people may launch various forms of agitation," said Ninthoujam Naba, co-convenor of Churachandpur Meitei United Committee.
