Anti-repression day slated for July 15

Imphal, July 12 2025: To commemorate the historic nude protest by 12 Meira Paibi activists in front of Kangla against the brutal rape and murder of Thangjam Manorama, the Observation Committee Anti-Repression Day, 2025 informed that Anti-Repression Day will be observed at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Lampak on July 15 .

In a release, Committee chairperson Khangembam Anandi stated that the historic nude protest with banners "Indian army rape us", "Take our flesh" still lingers in the minds of the people.

Following the protest, disturbed area under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was lifted from Imphal areas and Assam Rifles were withdrawn from Kangla.

The Committee urged the present generation to hold in the highest regard the 12 Meira Paibi activists who bravely protested, demanding the repeal of AFSPA and standing against the oppression endured by the people.
