Kakching, October 19 2024:
Citizens Association for Rural Development (CARD), Wabagai, a joint body of clubs of Wabagai, has cautioned the government that the people of Wabagai will block the Wabagai Lamkhai to Kakching stretch of National Highway 137 (A) (Imphal-Mayang Imphal-Kakching) if the government fails to take up necessary steps to repair the road within a couple of days.
Speaking to media persons in connection to deplorable condition of the road on Saturday, CARD president Huidrom Kishwarjit stated that the road is not only part of NH 137 (A) but also a major section of Indo Burma-Sugnu road, through which thousands of people commute on daily basis.
Unfortunately, the road has not been repaired for many years resulting in multiple potholes.
The most affected area of Wabagai Lamkhai has knee-deep potholes often becoming a primary cause of road accident, he said..
Mentioning that CARD had raised complaint about the dilapidated road to the local MLA and executive engineer of the PWD, Kishwarjit decried that no concrete action has been taken to repair the road till date.
He further warned that if the potholes at Wabagai Lamkhai section of the road are not mended in two-three days and the Wabagai Lamkhai to Kakching road is not repaired at the earliest they will resort to different forms of agitations including blocking the road.
