Convention on 'Governance and Turmoil in Manipur' held

In continuation of the series of discussions on 'Manipur Today and Tomorrow' organised by Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Manipur for the last one year, a one-day Convention on 'Governance and Turmoil in Manipur' was conducted by IDS and NG College Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at the college's hall on Saturday.
In a release, IDS information and publicity secretary Yumnam Laksman Singh informed that the programme was attended by AMWJU former president and Kangleipakli Meira chief editor Wangkhemcha Shamjai as chief guest and IDS chairperson professor N Mohendro Singh as functional president, while NG College principal Ashok Roy Choudhury and Thangjam Agro Industries managing director Thangjam Joykumar Singh were special guest of honour and guest of honour respectively.
Manipur University's Department of Law head Dr Yumnam Premananda Singh and DM University associate professor Dr Arambam Noni were the resource persons of the convention.
The release also mentioned that Joykumar Singh, Ashok Roy Choudhury, Wangkhemcha Shamjai, Indrakumar Singh, Shantibala Devi and RK Dilip Singh delivered talks on the topic.
In his presidential address, Prof N Mohendro reiterated the sufferings of the people from militant conservatism.
"How to bring unity has been a big question for us.
For handling the present crisis we need a person having a position in society, power to motivate others and knowledge to handle the situation," he opined.
