Imphal, September 21 2024:
Imphal West District VDF Welfare Association has drawn the attention of the government and the police department towards the need of providing similar equipment sets to Imphal East VDF personnel on duty at red zone areas.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Thursday, Association president Sagolsem Sanjit Singh recounted that on September 17, Imphal East SP issued an order instructing 25 VDF members of Imphal East to report to SP Jiribam for duty and assist in maintaining law and order in Jiribam district.
At present, 10,000 VDFs are pushing for a service condition policy programme in addition to increasing the pay packages and updating all 10050 VDF personnel in the Ministry of Home Affairs instead of just a few.
All of these are yet to be put into action, he pointed out, while adding that the Association will soon exert pressure on the government in the matter.
Amid this, the "erroneous" deployment order for duty in another district has hurt the sentiments of all VDF members in Imphal East.
As such, he condemned the order and urged the authority concerned to revoke the order and not issue such orders in the future.
