Protest rally over Waqf Amendment Act continues

Denouncing the passage of Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 in both the houses of the parliament, Jamiatul Ulama Hedayatul Basar, Hayel Labuk in collaboration with local club organisations of the village staged a massive rally today at Hayel Labuk, Thoubal district.
Participated by thousands of villagers, the rally commenced from Hayel Labuk Idigah and culminated at Hayel Labuk Playground.
During the rally, placards with inscriptions "Reject the Waqf Act 2025", "Withdraw Waqf Amendment Act, 2025", "Down Down BJP," "Don't look down the Minorities", "Don't interfere in waqf properties", "We will sacrifice for Islam", among others and similar slogans were also raised by the protesters.
Speaking at the sideline of the protest, Jamiatul Ulama Hedayatul Basar Hayel Labuk, member Mufti Afzal stated that Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 cannot be accepted at any cost.
"Even though the NDA govt claims the Amendment Act to be in the interest of the muslim community, the Act cannot be accepted by anyone who follows the religion of Islam,' said Afzal.
He stated that Waqf is a dedicated property for charitable or religious purposes in the name of Allah, the ultimate owner and cannot be owned or bought by anyone, said Afzal.
Labelling the Waqf (Amendment) Act as a black law, he urged the Government to repeal the legislation in the interest of the Muslim community.
