Bisoya selected for UK-funded fellowship

Bisoya Loitongbam has made history by becoming the first Manipuri to be selected for the prestigious 'Chevening Gurukul Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence', which is fully funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and hosted by the University of Oxford.
The fellowship targets young leaders with strong, demonstrable leadership potential from diverse backgrounds, and enable them to explore evolving ideas and practices of leadership and examining the implications of globalisation for Indian leaders.
Bisoya, daughter of former minister and MLA of Andro AC Loitongbam Amujao and Sushila of Angtha village, currently serves as director of the 10 Bedded ICU project at the eGovernments Foundation, a non-profit organisation co-founded by Nandan Nilekani and Srikanth Nadhamuni.
Her career spans over 18 years in leadership roles across various sectors, including ICICI, Ministry of Rural Development, Ernst & Young, United Nations Development Program, and the Azim Premji Foundation.
Educationally, Bisoya is a postgraduate from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand, and an engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal.
She is also pursuing executive PhD in economics from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
Her early education was completed in Manipur at Brighter Academy and Manipur Public School.
Joining Bisoya in the fellowship will be 11 other fellows from diverse backgrounds, including BJP Tamil Nadu president Annamalai Kuppusamy, Karnataka Residence Commissioner Imkongla Jamir, and private secretary to the Minister of State for Education Rohini Bidari, among others.
As part of the fellowship, Bisoya will participate in an intensive 12-week residential course at the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), University of Oxford.
The course aims to address leadership challenges through three fundamental and interlocking components focusing on academic understanding, policy relevance, and personal development.
