Border fencing, road project opposed

Imphal, December 26 2024: Nongkam Satang Village Authority has decried the notification issued by Tengnoupal deputy commissioner (DC) regarding the fencing and road construction along the In-do-Myanmar Border (IMB) from Border Pillar (BP) 81 to 85 (Package IV) in the Eastern Maring area under Tengnoupal district.

In a release, the Village Authority averred that the villagers have raised concerns and voiced opposition to the constructions in the border area.

In light of this, the villagers on Wednesday unanimously resolved to stand firmly against the construction of border fencing and road within the jurisdiction of Nongkam Satang village, it reminded.

Urging department concerned to cease the ongoing construction works in support of the village resolution, the release cautioned that any individual or group violating the decision will be doing so at their own risk.
