Pradipkumar moots panel of support persons

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) chairman Keisam Pradipkumar has underscored the importance of establishing a panel of support persons and formulating proper guidelines under Section 39 of the POCSO Act.
He made the remark during a consultation programme held at the Loktak Hall of the Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday.
Aimed at developing a model guideline for support persons under the Act.
The programme was jointly organised by MCPCR and National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).
Pradipkumar, medical & health services director Dr O Sanahanbi, and SP (Crime Against Women & Children) Ph Maheshwari attended the event as presidium members.
Many Child rights experts also attended the programme and shared their knowledge.
Pradipkumar highlighted the importance of public awareness regarding the severe penalties for committing crimes against children and the mandatory requirement to report such crimes to the police.
He urged the police to ensure proper registration of cases in such instances.
The chairperson emphasised that forming a panel of support persons under Section 39 of the POCSO Act 2012 is crucial for empowering these individuals to provide necessary assistance to victims.
The proposed model guideline will assist the panel in following the correct procedures, ensuring swift justice and reducing the burden on support persons.
Pradipkumar also called for appointment of subject experts as panel members to enhance the effectiveness of support provided to victims.
